GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — MSU Denver wrapped up its road trip on Sunday with a 2-0 setback at Colorado Mesa.
The Roadrunners (now 0-4-4 overall) held the Mavericks scoreless for more than 30 minutes before conceding late in the first half. Colorado Mesa added an insurance goal in the 57th minute to secure the win.
Kayla Caballero made four saves in goal for MSU Denver, while Jenelle Arenibas registered two shots on target to lead the attack.
Meg Gonzalez and Ella Castle also recorded shots as the Roadrunners finished with four attempts overall.
Colorado Mesa held a 16-4 edge in shots and an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks, but the Roadrunners stayed organized defensively and limited the damage despite the pressure.
MSU Denver will return home looking to turn the page, hosting New Mexico Highlands on Friday at 1 p.m. at Assembly Athletic Complex.
