@MSUDenverMBB: Early Turnovers Plague Roadrunners on the Road

DENVER — MSU Denver men's basketball (5-10, 3-4 RMAC) fell short Thursday evening by a score of 70-79 against Colorado Christian inside the CCU Event Center.

The Roadrunners stayed competitive early, matching CCU's energy on both ends of the floor. MSU Denver moved the ball well and found good looks from the perimeter, helping keep the game close through the opening stretch. The team's shooting from deep was a bright spot, as the Roadrunners knocked down shots to answer CCU runs.

Despite the impressive shooting from beyond the arc and outscoring the Cougars 43-40 in the second half, it was the early turnovers that doomed the Roadrunners. They finished with the double the amount of turnovers that Colorado Christian had (22-11).

Quave Propst Allison led the way offensively, finishing with a game-high 23 points while also handing out five assists. His ability to score and create helped MSU Denver stay within striking distance throughout the night.

Caden Holmes gave the Roadrunners a big boost, posting a season-high 14 points. Holmes was the team's top shooter from beyond the arc, drilling three three-pointers and providing timely buckets to keep momentum on MSU Denver's side.

As a team, the Roadrunners shot an efficient 9-for-18 from three-point range, finishing at 50 percent from deep. That shooting kept the game tight and gave the Red and Blue chances to make a push late.

Despite the strong shooting and balanced scoring, CCU was able to make key plays down the stretch to pull away. The Roadrunners will look to build off the positives from this performance as they continue RMAC play on Saturday afternoon against UCCS at 4 p.m. MT.
