@MSUDenverMBB: Red and Blue Fall Short to Western Colorado

DENVER – The MSU Denver men's basketball team battled until the final seconds but ultimately came up just short, falling 75–69 to Western Colorado on Saturday afternoon at the Auraria Events Center.

Despite the loss, the Roadrunners showed fight throughout, cutting into a late deficit and making it a one-possession game in the final minute. MSU Denver moves to 7–15 overall and 5–9 in RMAC play following the tightly contested setback.

Logan Threatt and Ace Hackett led the way offensively, scoring 17 points apiece. Threatt was highly efficient, shooting 6-for-11 from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, while also contributing three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Hackett attacked the rim consistently, finishing 7-of-13 from the floor and adding five rebounds.

Quave Propst-Allison delivered a complete performance for the Roadrunners, stuffing the stat sheet with 11 points, a team-high five assists, and five steals, along with three rebounds. His defensive pressure helped MSU Denver generate transition opportunities and stay within striking distance throughout the second half.

The game was tight from the opening tip, with neither team able to create significant separation in the first half. MSU Denver trailed by just one point at the break, 37–36, after shooting nearly 45 percent from the floor over the opening 20 minutes.

Western Colorado pushed its advantage early in the second half, but the Roadrunners refused to fold. MSU Denver chipped away at the deficit behind timely baskets from Hackett and Threatt, trimming the lead to four points in the final 40 seconds. However, the Mountaineers sealed the game at the free-throw line down the stretch.

MSU Denver finished with 17 assists and 12 steals, matching Western Colorado's physicality and energy for much of the afternoon, but couldn't overcome key baskets late by the Mountaineers.

The Roadrunners will look to turn the page quickly as they continue RMAC play next week, carrying forward the grit and intensity shown in Saturday's close contest.
