@MSUDenverBSB: Roadrunners Explode for Historic Offensive Output, Take Series at UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In a game that will go down as one of the most explosive offensive performances in program history, MSU Denver baseball powered past the UCCS Mountain Lions by a score of 29-6 on Sunday to secure a 3-of-4 series win on the road.

With the victory, the Roadrunners improve to 35-11 overall and 23-5 in RMAC play, holding a 3.5-game lead for second place heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

MSU Denver's offense was nothing short of dominant, matching a team-high with 29 runs scored while setting a new season-high mark with 24 hits. The outburst came against one of the top offenses in NCAA Division II, as the Mountain Lions entered the series ranked No. 1 nationally in team batting average (.362), just ahead of the Roadrunners who ranked No. 3 (.359).

The game turned decisively in the sixth inning, when MSU Denver erupted for 10 runs behind a barrage of extra-base hits and timely swings. Marques Abulhosn helped ignite the inning with a run-scoring hit and later added to his RBI total as the lineup batted around.

Noah Wicks delivered a clutch RBI single to keep the rally moving before Royce Vandine broke things open with a bases-clearing double, driving in three and pushing the lead firmly in MSU Denver's favor.

Moments later, Alek Martinez added even more damage with an RBI double, part of his big day that also included two home runs earlier in the game. Brayden Oram kept the pressure on by reaching base and eventually scoring, while Brooks Rasmussen continued his strong performance by working his way on base and crossing the plate as well.

Abulhosn delivered one of the most impressive individual performances of the season, going 3-for-5 with five runs scored, six RBIs, and two walks, finishing just a double shy of the cycle. He has now reached base in 17 consecutive games, the longest active streak by a Roadrunner this season.

The junior capped an incredible weekend in which he went 8-for-16 with four home runs, 11 RBIs, 10 runs scored, three hit-by-pitches, and two walks.

The offensive fireworks didn't stop there, as the Roadrunners saw production throughout the lineup:

  • Noah Wicks went 4-for-6 with four RBIs, two runs, and a walk
  • Royce Vandine drove in five runs, going 3-for-6 with three runs scored
  • Alek Martinez crushed two home runs, finishing 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs
  • Brayden Oram scored four times, going 3-for-4 with two walks
  • Brooks Rasmussen continued his consistent season, going 2-for-2 with five runs scored, two walks, and an RBI—marking his team-leading 22nd multi-hit game

It was a complete offensive showcase, with MSU Denver consistently applying pressure from the first inning through the final out.

On the mound, Nolan Livsey earned the win out of the bullpen, tossing four innings of relief. He allowed just two runs on four hits while striking out five, stabilizing the game and giving the offense room to take over.

The weekend also marked a historic stretch away from home for the Roadrunners. With their first win of Saturday's doubleheader, MSU Denver extended its road winning streak to 14 consecutive games (March 8 – April 25, 2026), setting a new program record and surpassing the previous mark of 13 set during the 2011 season.

In addition, Sunday's victory secured the Roadrunners' 20th road win of the season, the most by the program since 2023 when MSU Denver won 16 games away from home—further highlighting the team's dominance outside of Denver this spring.

With the series victory, MSU Denver continues to build momentum at a crucial point in the season. The Roadrunners now turn their focus to the final weekend of RMAC play, controlling their positioning near the top of the standings after one of the most dominant offensive performances of the year.
