@MSUDenverWGOLF: Stefanie Ferguson Steps Down as Women's Golf Head Coach After Nine Years

DENVER — After nearly a decade leading the program, Stefanie Ferguson is stepping down as head coach of MSU Denver women's golf, the department announced Monday morning.

Ferguson closes her tenure after nine seasons at the helm of the Roadrunners program, leaving behind one of the most stable stretches in team history while helping guide MSU Denver back onto the NCAA Tournament stage.

Most recently, Ferguson coached the program's first NCAA Tournament qualifier since 2016, a milestone achievement that highlighted the continued growth of the Roadrunners under her leadership.

During her nine-year tenure, Ferguson led MSU Denver to consistent finishes within the highly competitive RMAC, including four sixth-place finishes, three fifth-place finishes and one seventh-place finish at the conference championships.

Beyond results on the course, Ferguson became known for the close relationships she built with her student-athletes and her dedication to helping players grow both personally and competitively throughout their collegiate careers.

"I've been so lucky to be able to coach at MSU Denver, being a part of student athletes lives and being their family away from home is a huge honor," Ferguson said. "I'm grateful for everything the athletic department has done for me and the team and will always be rooting for the Roadrunners."

Ferguson also reflected on the lasting impact the university and athletic department had on her throughout her time in Denver.

"MSU Denver is an institution that is so special and I'm so lucky I could be part of it," Ferguson said. "I want to thank everyone at the university, the staff in the athletic department, all our supporters and most of all my student athletes I've had over the years for everything, will always be a time in my life I cherish!"

While stepping away from collegiate coaching, Ferguson will remain involved in the game moving forward.

"Going forward I'm going to continue to teach at ExperienceGolf and continue to grow the game and my career as a golf professional," Ferguson said.

Ferguson's departure marks the end of an important era for the Roadrunners program, one that saw steady development, competitive growth within the RMAC and a return to NCAA postseason competition.

MSU Denver Athletics is expected to begin a national search for the program's next head coach in the coming weeks.
