@MSUDenverWGOLF: Denver Native Jaylee Tait Named Head Coach of MSU Denver Women's Golf

DENVER – MSU Denver Athletics has announced the hiring of Jaylee Tait as the new head coach of the Roadrunners women's golf program on Monday morning.

A Denver-area native and PGA Associate, Tait brings more than 13 years of experience in the golf industry and seven years of coaching, instruction and player development to MSU Denver. She succeeds Stef Ferguson after the program enjoyed one of its strongest seasons in recent history.

"We're excited to welcome Jaylee to MSU Denver," Director of Athletics Todd Thurman said. "She has a clear vision for developing student-athletes, a passion for the game, and the leadership qualities that align with the values of Roadrunner Athletics. We look forward to seeing our women's golf program continue to grow under her direction."

Tait arrives after serving as an assistant golf professional at Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel since 2020, where she has become a respected instructor while helping grow the game throughout the Denver metro area. She also founded Teed Up Golf Events, a business specializing in charity tournaments, corporate outings and Pro-Am experiences, showcasing her strengths in event management, fundraising, sponsorship development and organizational leadership.

In addition to her coaching experience, Tait continues to compete professionally while pursuing Class A PGA Membership through the PGA of America's Golf Management Program. A former NCAA Division I student-athlete at Montana State, she competed for the Bobcats throughout her collegiate career before earning her bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in small business management and entrepreneurship.

During her time at Lone Tree, Tait launched the facility's PGA Junior League program in 2021 and grew participation to more than 80 players within two years. She also developed and continues to operate a successful Couples League while providing personalized instruction to junior and adult golfers alike. Her coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, character, competitiveness and personal growth while creating an environment where student-athletes are challenged and supported both on and off the course.

Tait's diverse background also includes experience in fundraising, travel planning, account management, marketing and player development, all valuable tools as she takes over a Roadrunner program that continues to ascend within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

"As a Colorado native, joining the MSU Denver golf program and the Roadrunner family is incredibly meaningful. I'm grateful for the opportunity and excited for what's ahead. I look forward to building relationships with our student-athletes and helping our program continue to grow both on and off the course."

Tait inherits a program coming off one of its best seasons in school history. The Roadrunners produced their first NCAA Regional qualifier since 2016 as Neige Dunn advanced to postseason play after earning First Team All-RMAC honors. MSU Denver also placed two golfers on the All-RMAC team, posted multiple top-six conference finishes in recent years and continues to build momentum within one of Division II's most competitive conferences.

Now under Tait's leadership, the Roadrunners will look to continue that upward trajectory while building on a strong foundation both competitively and academically.
