DENVER – Jaslyn Sanders scored her first goal of the season, but the MSU Denver women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Point Loma in its first home contest of the 2026 campaign Friday night at The Assembly Athletic Complex.
The Roadrunners fell behind early as Point Loma scored twice in the first half to take a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break.
The Sea Lions opened the scoring in the 24th minute before adding their second goal at the 44:06 mark, putting MSU Denver in a two-goal deficit heading into the final 45 minutes.
MSU Denver found their breakthrough in the 65th minute when Sanders took a pass from Sandra Swartz and found the back of the net at the 64:48 mark for her first goal of the season, cutting the Point Loma lead to 2-1.
However, the Sea Lions answered quickly, restoring their two-goal advantage less than a minute later with a goal at the 65:48 mark to account for the final 3-1 score.
Point Loma held a 9-1 advantage in total shots and put five shots on target, while the Roadrunners' lone shot found the back of the net. Sanders accounted for MSU Denver's only shot and shot on goal. Goalkeeper Kiley Hyde made two saves in the match, while the Sea Lions held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Roadrunners will look to bounce back in their next match on the road against Central Washington.
