DENVER – Homecoming Weekend brings a packed schedule to MSU Denver, with men's and women's soccer, No. 19 women's volleyball and cross country all in action across Denver and Colorado Springs from Thursday through Sunday.
Men's soccer will get the weekend started Thursday night when the Roadrunners travel to Colorado Springs to take on No. 3 UCCS at 6 p.m. MSU Denver enters the matchup with a 2-1-2 record after earning a 1-0 victory over Hawaii Hilo on Monday. Ismael Reyes scored the lone goal in the win, giving him a team-leading three goals on the season.
The Roadrunners will return home Sunday for a noon matchup against Westminster. Both matches against UCCS and Westminster are against RMAC opponents but will not count toward the conference standings.
Women's soccer will open RMAC play with a pair of home matches at the Assembly Athletic Complex. The Roadrunners host Westminster at 6 p.m. Friday before welcoming Colorado Mesa at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
MSU Denver enters conference play at 1-2-3 after splitting a pair of home matches last weekend. The Roadrunners opened with a 2-0 victory over Fort Hays State, receiving goals from Maya Woods and Grace Johnson, before falling 2-1 to Westmont on Sunday.
No. 19 women's volleyball will also begin a busy stretch of home matches with a pair of RMAC contests over the weekend. The Roadrunners host Colorado Mesa at 6 p.m. Friday before taking on Westminster at 4 p.m. Saturday. MSU Denver will then remain at home Tuesday, Sept. 22, to face Colorado Christian at 6 p.m.
The Roadrunners enter the weekend with a 6-4 overall record and a 2-0 mark in RMAC play after opening conference competition with consecutive 3-1 victories over Colorado School of Mines and rival UCCS. Colorado Mesa also enters the weekend 2-0 in conference play and 8-2 overall.
MSU Denver's cross country teams will have their lone home meet of the season Saturday morning when the Roadrunners host the Roadrunners Invitational at Washington Park.
The men's 8K will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women's 6K at 9:15 a.m. The meet marks the second competition of the fall for both teams following the UCCS Rust Buster two weeks ago, where the Roadrunners produced strong individual performances.
With competition beginning Thursday night and continuing through Tuesday, Homecoming Weekend will provide plenty of opportunities to support Roadrunner Athletics, with three teams competing at home and cross country hosting its lone home meet of the season.
