DENVER – MSU Denver opened Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play with a strong defensive showing Friday night, battling Westminster to a 0-0 draw at the Assembly Athletic Complex.
The Roadrunners (1-2-4) kept Westminster off the scoreboard throughout the 90 minutes, with goalkeeper Morgan Shirley making two saves on the Griffins' 10 shots.
MSU Denver did not generate much offensively, recording just three shots in the match. Addison Osilka accounted for two of those attempts, while Madeline Everett recorded the other. None of the Roadrunners' three shots were on target.
The defensive effort kept the Roadrunners in the match throughout the night, as Westminster was unable to find a breakthrough in the teams' first RMAC meeting of the season. The Griffins moved to 2-0-1 on the season with the draw.
MSU Denver will close its homestand Sunday afternoon when it hosts Colorado Mesa. The match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Assembly Athletic Complex.
