DENVER – A busy weekend awaits MSU Denver Athletics, with five contests across men's soccer, women's soccer and women's volleyball beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing through Sunday.
The action gets underway Thursday when women's soccer welcomes New Mexico Highlands to the Assembly Athletic Complex for an RMAC matchup. The contest was originally scheduled to be played in Las Vegas, New Mexico, but incoming weather prompted a venue change to Denver. Despite playing at the Assembly Athletic Complex, the Roadrunners will remain designated as the visiting team for the 3 p.m. kickoff.
The Roadrunners enter the weekend at 1-3-4 overall and 0-1-1 in RMAC play, looking for their first conference victory of the season. MSU Denver will then head to Colorado Springs on Sunday for a 1 p.m. matchup against UCCS.
Men's soccer takes center stage Friday evening when the Roadrunners open RMAC play at home against Adams State at 6 p.m. at the Assembly Athletic Complex.
MSU Denver enters conference play riding a six-match unbeaten streak and carrying a 3-1-3 overall record. The Roadrunners' recent run includes hard-fought draws against nationally ranked opponents Midwestern State and UCCS, as well as victories over Lubbock Christian, Hawaii Hilo and Westminster.
Following Friday night's conference opener, the Roadrunners will remain home Sunday for another RMAC matchup, hosting Fort Lewis at noon.
Women's volleyball will hit the road Saturday for a 5 p.m. matchup against Colorado School of Mines in Golden.
The Roadrunners enter the weekend at 8-5 overall and 3-1 in RMAC play after sweeping Colorado Christian 3-0 Tuesday night. While MSU Denver has won four of its first five RMAC matches, Tuesday's match against the Cougars did not count toward the conference standings, and Saturday's contest against Mines also will not count as an RMAC match.
Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Gennerman continues to lead the RMAC offensively, entering the weekend with 191 kills and 4.34 kills per set. The defending national champions will look to carry the momentum from back-to-back sweeps into Saturday's road matchup with the Orediggers.
With three teams in action and five matches on the schedule, the Roadrunners will have plenty of opportunities to build momentum as the RMAC season continues.
