DENVER – A busy stretch of competition awaits MSU Denver Athletics, with four Roadrunner programs in action across Colorado and Arizona beginning Friday.
MSU Denver's women's soccer team will headline the weekend with a pair of home matches, while women's volleyball opens Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play Saturday. The women's golf team begins its 2026-27 season in Arizona, and men's soccer wraps up the stretch with a Monday night home match.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Second-year head coach Katie Hooker and the women's soccer team return home for a pair of matches this weekend, beginning Friday against Fort Hays State at 3 p.m.
The Roadrunners enter the weekend 0-1-3 after earning back-to-back draws on the road last weekend against Central Washington and Saint Martin's. Grace Johnson leads MSU Denver through the first four matches with two goals and four total points.
Friday's match will be preceded by a neutral-site contest between Fort Lewis and Westmont at noon, with the Roadrunners' match against Fort Hays State following at 3 p.m.
MSU Denver will then play Westmont on Sunday for a noon matchup.
VOLLEYBALL
After an action-packed non-conference schedule, No. 18 MSU Denver volleyball begins its pursuit of another RMAC title Saturday when it hosts Colorado School of Mines at 4 p.m.
First-year head coach Stacie Meisner's Roadrunners enter conference play with a 4-4 record after competing at the Colorado Premier Challenge last weekend. MSU Denver opened the tournament with a victory over Bentley before dropping three straight matches in the silver bracket.
The Roadrunners nearly pulled off a dramatic victory against No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul in a rematch of the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championship, taking the Golden Bears to a full five sets before coming up just short.
Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Gennerman has continued to establish herself as one of the conference's top offensive weapons. She enters RMAC play leading the league with 111 kills and will look to build on a strong freshman campaign in her second season.
The Roadrunners face a challenging start to conference play, with both of their first two opponents among the top teams in the RMAC. Following Saturday's home opener against Mines, MSU Denver travels to Colorado Springs Tuesday for a 6 p.m. matchup at UCCS.
MEN'S SOCCER
The weekend stretch concludes Monday night when MSU Denver men's soccer hosts Hawaii Hilo at 6 p.m. Head coach Nick Kirchhof and the Roadrunners enter the matchup with a 1-1-2 record after a strong home weekend.
MSU Denver opened the weekend with a 2-0 shutout victory over Lubbock Christian before battling No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Midwestern State to a 2-2 draw.
Ismael Reyes and Jace Starling lead the Roadrunners with two goals apiece through four matches. Starling provided one of the weekend's biggest moments when he scored the game-tying goal against Midwestern State late in the second half.
With another opportunity to take on a nationally recognized opponent at home, MSU Denver will look to carry the momentum from its unbeaten weekend into Monday night's matchup with Hawaii Hilo.
With home contests, the start of conference play and the opening of a new golf season all on the schedule, it will be one of the busiest stretches of the young 2026-27 season for the Roadrunners.
WOMEN'S GOLF
The 2026-27 season officially gets underway for MSU Denver women's golf Monday and Tuesday as the Roadrunners travel to Goodyear, Arizona, for the RJGA Shootout at Estrella.
The tournament, hosted by Western New Mexico, marks the first appearance for MSU Denver under new head coach Jaylee Tait. The Roadrunners will once again make their season-opening trip to Goodyear as they begin their 2026-27 campaign at Estrella.
