Roadrunners Shut Out UCCS

The No. 12 Metro State women's soccer team (13-1-3, 9-0-2 RMAC) played tough defense in beating UC-Colorado Springs, 3-0, Sunday afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play at Auraria Field. The victory coupled with Fort Lewis' loss to Colorado School of Mines, gave the 'Runners a half game lead in the conference race.

Courtney Ryan scored her first goal of the season in the 10th minute of the game on a header off a corner kick from Gabby Klipp. Jen Thomas followed with her 12th goal of the season and Becca Mays rounded out the scoring with free kick goal in the 53rd minute. The 'Runners allowed eight shots on goal, but Becca Maloney made seven saves in recording her 10th shutout of the season.

The 'Runners will face Fort Lewis this Friday at 1 p.m. in Durango. The game will decide the regular season conference champion. MSCD will then travel to Grand Juncion to take on Mesa State, Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
