Roadrunners Silence Fort Lewis

The No. 12 Metro State women's soccer team (14-1-3, 10-0-2 RMAC) continued its winning ways with an important 2-0 victory over Fort Lewis, Friday afternoon in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play in Durango, Colo.

The high quality of defense was evident throughout the game. Fort Lewis recorded six shots on goal and Metro State had five. The 'Runners were able to capitilize on their opportunities late in the game. Junior Becca Mays opened the scoring in the 73rd minute. She took a pass from Jen Thomas and and had an open shot from the right top of the box. Thomas then followed in the 86th minute. She stole the ball from the Skyhawk defense and laced a shot past the Fort Lewis goalkeeper.

The victory put the 'Runners two points ahead of Regis going into the last regular season game on Sunday. Metro State will face Mesa State on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
