The No. 12 Metro State women's soccer (16-1-3, 12-0-2 RMAC) team defeated Fort Lewis, 3-0, for the second time in a week to advance to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament Championship, Friday afternoon at Auraria Field.
The first half was a defensive battle as neither team managed to score. But, Metro State started the second half quickly, when Becca Mays brokeway from the defense and scored for her 18th goal of the season. Ashley Nemmers scored the second goal in the 68th minute on an assist from Courtney Ryan. Just two minutes later, Madison McQuilliams finished the scoring with a shot from the outside that sailed over the goalkeeper's head.
The 'Runners advance to the RMAC Championship to face Regis, who defeated Colorado School of Mines, 3-0, in the second semifinal. The game will be played at Auraria Field at Noon on Sunday.
