DURANGO, Colo. - The No. 21 Metro State men's soccer team edged No. 11 Colorado Mines 5-4 in a shootout on Friday in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals in Durango. The two teams entered the shootout after remaining tied 1-1 after two overtime periods.
Jamey King (Salida, Colo./Salida H.S.) provided the deciding penalty kick as all five Metro State players made their kicks.

Steven Emory (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins H.S.),
Tyler Hambrick (Northglenn, Colo./Faith Christian H.S.) and
Sam Rolph (Denver, Colo./Mullen H.S.) also connected on their respective kicks in the shootout. With the score tied 4-4, goalkeeper
Dominique Griffith (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill H.S.) stopped an attempt by Drew Werth from Mines to set up King's kick to send Metro State to the RMAC Tournament championship. The Roadrunners will face No. 2 Fort Lewis on Sunday.
Scott Grode (Gilbert, Ariz./Basha H.S.) put Metro State ahead in the fifth minute as Rolph passed it up to Grode, who dribbled to the right of the box and shot into the upper left corner.
The Orediggers tied the game in the 36th minute Cale Haas deflected Chike Sullivan's kick into the net.
That was the only scoring the rest of the game.
Emory had the only shot on goal in either overtime period, that shot coming in the 106th minute of the game.
Metro State held a 14-6 shot advantage in a defensive game. Griffith made two saves in the game, while CSM goalkeeper Manville Strand stopped four shots.
