KEARNEY, Neb. - Jasmine Cervantes led four Roadrunners in double figures with a game-high 24 points, but Nebraska-Kearney posted an 86-75 victory to remain within a game of first-place Colorado School of Mines in the East Division of the RMAC.
Metro State outscored the Lopers 49-48 in the second half, but UNK's 12-point cushion at intermission was too much to overcome.
Cervantes' free throw pulled the Roadrunners to within three at 59-56 with 7:52 remaining, but the Lopers responded with an 11-2 run over a two-minute span to regain control.
Rae Bean scored 18 points for Metro State, while Megan Sinclair chipped in 12 and Leandra Sands added 11. Jonni Mildenberger led UNK with 22 points.
Metro State is now 11-13 overall and 9-7 in the RMAC, while UNK improved to 16-8 overall and 11-5 in conference play. The Roadrunners, currently in fourth place in the RMAC East Division, travel to Chadron State Saturday.
