DENVER -
No. 14 Metro State won 3-0 over UC-Colorado Springs on Sunday in the team's final regular season home game of the 2010 season.  The Roadrunners improved to 12-3-2 overall and 8-3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while the Mountain Lions dropped to 7-8-1 overall and 4-7-1 in the RMAC.

Aleah DeGeneres (Littleton, Colo./Chatfield H.S.) scored a pair of goals in the victory and Ashley Nemmers (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) had a goal and an assist.

The Roadrunners controlled play in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime behind DeGeneres' first goal of the game.  Nemmers played a through ball to DeGeneres on the right side for the goal.

Despite a 14-to-7 shot advantage for Metro State in the second half, play was fairly even throughout much of the period.  Nicole Pollack (Englewood, Colo./Englewood H.S.) dribbled past midfield and sent a through ball to Nemmers who broke for the net on the right side.  Nemmers worked ahead of the defense and finished the shot, scoring her sixth goal of the season in the final regular season home game of her career.  For Nemmers, it was the first time in her career she has recorded a goal and an assist in the same game as she had a career-high three points.

DeGeneres scored the final goal of the year--her team-leading ninth--just 21 seconds before time expired in the 90th minute.  She forced a turnover near midfield for the breakaway goal.

It was her second career multi-goal game and first of the season.

For the game, Metro State had a 23-12 shot advantage.

Sarah Tanous (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy H.S.) made seven saves for her second straight shutout.

The Roadrunners finish the regular season on Friday with a 3 p.m. game at Colorado Mines.
