GOLDEN, Colo. -
No. 3 Colorado Mines scored two goals in the first five minutes as the host Orediggers held off a Metro State rally to win 3-2 at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals in Golden, Colo.  Metro State's season comes to and end with a 12-6-2 record, while CSM improved to 16-1-1.

Tesho Akindele scored just 16 seconds into the game on a counter-attack after a give-and-go with Alex Gunberg and Baski Baker giving Mines the early lead.  Chike Sullivan scored almost exactly four minutes later after a similar play with Baski Baker and Philip Wilson.

Akindele's goal was the fastest goal to start a game in Colorado Mines history.

After Sullivan's score, Metro State controlled play for much of the game.  The Roadrunners outshot the Orediggers 7-4 in the first half and 8-5 in the second half to hold a 15-9 advantage for the game.

Steven Emory (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins H.S.) scored on a penalty kick in the 54th minute to cut the Mines lead in half.  The Roadrunners continued to pressure after Emory's goal and Andrew Mejia (Littleton, Colo./Mullen H.S.) finally converted Kevin Pocalyko (Longmont, Colo./Longmont H.S.)'s corner kick in the 76th minute, scoring his first career goal on a header to tie the game.

Chris Yoder (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite H.S.) had a chance from the top of the box on a counter-attack just a minute later, but missed left.

After the Orediggers gained control with a throw-in deep in Metro State territory, Cale Haas scored from the the six-yard box in the 85th minute as Baker and Akindele assisted to put CSM ahead again.

Metro State earned a penalty kick in the 89th minute, but was unable to put a shot on goal in the final five minutes.

Seniors Emory, Tyler Wilson (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill H.S.) and Jack Belanger (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny H.S.) were Metro State's three seniors and all played their final games in a Roadrunner uniform.
