PUEBLO, Colo. - No. 4 Fort Lewis jumped out to a 16-point halftime lead and went on to a 60-46 victory over Metro State on Friday in the semifinals of the RMAC Shootout. The Skyhawks improved to 30-2 on the season, while the Roadrunners' season likely came to an end at 17-12. Metro State will await the NCAA Tournament selection show on Sunday night to find out if they make the tournament.
Metro State took a 6-0 lead just two minute into the contest, but hit a scoring drought as FLC went on a 24-5 run to take a 13-point lead with under five minutes left in the half. The Skyhawks went into halftime with a 30-14 lead as Metro State tied a season high by turning the ball over 16 times in the first half and shot just 23.1 percent from the floor.
Momentum did a 180-degree turn to start the second half as the Roadrunners opened the half on a 15-5 run to cut the lead to six points just five minutes into the second half as freshman
Emily Wood (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.) went off for 13 of the 15 points.
The Skyhawks settled down and slowly built their lead back to 13 points at 50-37 with seven minutes left in the game.
Metro State recovered by shooting 47.8 percent in the second half to hit at a 34.7 percent clip for the game. For the game, the Roadrunners committed 25 turnovers, their second-highest total this season.
Wood led all scorers with 15 points, hitting 6-of-9 from the floor.
Kristin Valencia (Moriarty, N.M./Moriarty H.S.) pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds, but hit just 2-of-8 from the floor and scored five points. Senior

Laura Haugen and Katie Mackey led the Skyhawks with 14 points each.
