DENVER - No. 15 Metro State's .309 hitting percentage led the host Roadrunners to a 29-27, 22-25, 25-18, 25-17 victory over Fort Lewis on Friday evening. Metro State improved to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while FLC dropped to 6-4 and 0-2 in the RMAC.
It was the second straight night Metro State hit over .300 as the Roadrunners hit a season-high .333 on Thursday in a three-set win over Mesa State. On Friday, the offense was again led by setter
Darcy Schwartzman (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest H.S.) dishing out 54 assists, while putting down four kills in six attempts. She also had 11 digs, four blocks and an ace.
Emily Greenhalgh (Conifer, Colo./Conifer H.S.) paced the Roadrunners with 18 kills, while hitting .400 (18-4-35). Right side
Lisa Jones (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo East H.S.) had 16 kills, six digs, five assists and two aces.
Bri Morley (Parker, Colo./Cherokee Trail H.S.) also put down 15 kills and had nine digs and three aces.
Anna Mapes (Chaska, Minn./Chaska H.S.) had one of the best performances of her career, hitting .889 with eight kills in nine attempts with no errors. She also had three blocks. Defensively, libero

Metro State led the first set 16-12, but FLC rallied to even the score at 18-18. The Skyhawks then had match point at 25-24, but Mapes put down a kill to even the score. Jones and Morley had back-to-back kills at 27-27 to hand the Roadrunners the early lead in the match.
But FLC took the second set with a dominating performance, hitting .296, while holding Metro State to just a .147 offensive output. The Skyhawks built a 21-14 lead, but Metro State scored six straight points to cut the lead to 21-20 with Schwartzman serving. But FLC regrouped to score four of the final five points.
Leading 11-7 in the third, Metro State allowed the Skyhawks to tie the set at 11-11, with a pair of errors. Metro State led 18-17 after Fort Lewis' Taylor Hillberry had a kill, but the Roadrunners scored the next six points to take control with
Ngoc Phan (Lone Tree, Colo./Cherry Creek H.S.) serving. Morley had kills on three of the team's final five points of the set. Metro State hit .455 in the third set.
Metro State jumped out to a 12-4 lead, scoring six straight points with Jones serving as Morley and Mapes combined for four kills during the run. The Roadrunners did not led FLC within five points the rest of the match. Morley had six kills during the fourth set.
The Roadrunners will wrap up the week with Western New Mexico at home on Saturday at 7 p.m.
