DENVER - No. 21 Metro State stretched its winning streak to a school record-tying 15 games as it topped UC-Colorado Springs 73-57 at home on Saturday. The previous 15-game winning streak was from Dec. 31, 1990, to Feb. 22, 1991. The Roadrunners improved to 15-0 this season with the win, including 11-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while UCCS fell to 6-9 overall and 5-6 in the RMAC.
Jasmine Cervantes (Johnstown, Colo./Berthoud H.S.) scored a season-high 22 points, hitting 9-of-9 at the free throw line, and pulled down a game-high seven rebounds to lead Metro State.
Cassondra Bratton (Arvada, Colo./Pomona H.S.) also had 17 points and five rebounds, shooting 5-of-7 from the floor and 7-of-8 at the line.
Kristin Valencia (Moriarty, N.M./Moriarty H.S.) added 13 points, hitting all three of her 3-point attempts and had five rebounds.

Brandi Valencia (Moriarty, N.M./Moriarty H.S.) led the team with three assists each.
Metro State shot 5-of-10 from the outside and 20-of-21 at the free throw line, while outrebounding the Mountain Lions 33-25. The Roadrunners also committed a season-low nine turnovers.
Metro State controlled play most of the game and led by as much as seven points in the first half, taking a 28-23 lead into halftime. Cervantes led all scorers with nine points at the break.
UCCS came out on fire in the second half, scoring on seven of its first eight possession of the second half, but Metro State managed to stay within one point during the run. A layup by
Kristin Valencia (Moriarty, N.M./Moriarty H.S.) with 14:25 left put Metro State in front for good and her 3-pointer on the next possession stretched the lead to five.
The Mountain Lions cut the lead to four points with 6:31 left at 55-51. Metro State held UCCS to just one field goal in the final four minutes and quickly built a double digit lead as the offense got going as the Roadrunner scored on their final seven possessions, hitting 6-of-6 at the line, while outrebounding UCCS 5-1 during that stretch.
Metro State will hit the road and play at No. 3 Fort Lewis on Friday at 6 p.m.
