Dow's double-double helps women's basketball to 10-0 start to season

Box Score DENVER - No. 3 Metro State used a 12-0 run midway through the first half and Caley Dow (Centennial, Colo./Arapahoe H.S.) recorded her second double-double of the season as the Roadrunners won 60-49 over Colorado Mesa in a battle of two of the top teams in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Friday afternoon. The Roadrunners moved to 10-0 overall and 6-0 in the RMAC, while CMU fell to 7-4 and 5-2.

The 10-0 start matches last season's best start in school history.

Dow had 13 points and 10 rebounds, hitting 6-of-8 from the floor in just 20 minutes. She matched Jenessa Burke (Aurora, Colo./Highlands Ranch H.S.) for a team-high 13 points. Burke made 7-of-9 at the line and had five rebounds off the bench. The first half was both teams use runs to take the lead, but it was a 12-0 lead midway through the first half that put Metro ahead 25-16 with 3:31 left as the Mavericks went nearly 10 minutes without a field goal. An ensuing run of 6-0 by CMU cut the lead back to three points, but the Roadrunners closed the half with the final seven points for a 32-22 lead at the break.

Dow led all scorers with nine points on 4-of-6 shooting and had five rebounds.

The Mavericks cut the lead to two at 36-34 with 14:47 left in the game. A deep fadeaway from just inside the 3-point line on the right wing by Burke and a steal and layup by Cervantes pushed the lead back to six and the Roadrunners never led by less than four the rest of the way.
