Women's soccer: MSU eliminated 1-0 in semifinals of RMAC tournament

Box Score GOLDEN, Colo. - Aubrey Bagley scored with 26:23 left as No. 19 Colorado Mines held off Metro State 1-0 in the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament on Friday in Golden, Colo. The Roadrunners fell to 13-5-2 overall, while CSM improved to 14-4-1. The Orediggers will play at Regis University for the conference tournament championship on Sunday.

Bagley scored after driving 40 yards up the left sideline and beating two defenders in the box. She fired the shot to the right of goalkeeper Jordan Simkins (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman H.S.) from six yards out.

Both teams had limited scoring opportunities in a defensive game. Play was even throughout the first half, though CSM took control later in the second half.

Kelci Newlin (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa H.S.) had an open shot in the box in the final minute of the game, but her shot rolled right to Orediggers goalkeeper Jalyn Yates as she made her third save to preserve the shutout.

Simkins had four saves for the Roadrunners, who were outshot 11-10 in the game.

Metro State will await the NCAA Tournament selection show on Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. on ncaa.com to find out if they qualify for their 10th consecutive postseason appearance.
