GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Metro State's men's tennis team earned a 5-4 win at Colorado Mesa and the women's team won 6-3 over Dixie State (Utah) after falling 6-3 to Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday and Saturday at the CMU Duals in Grand Junction, Colo.
For the men,
Adrien Delvaux,
Nick Baker and
Jonathan Evangelista earned singles wins at Nos. 2-4. In doubles, the Roadrunners won 8-3 at No. 1 with
Josh Graetz and Delvaux, and 9-7 at No. 2 with Baker and
Trevor Jones.
The women were shorthanded with four players against CSUP and five against DSC, but prevailed in Saturday's match.
Wanda Holopainen and
Cristina Oropeza accounted for all three of the team's wins against the ThunderWolves on Friday. Holopainen won at No. 1 singles and Oropeza at No. 2, while the duo combined for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles.
On Saturday against Dixie State, MSU Denver added regional champion
Naomi Holopainen back to its lineup and reaped the benefits as she won both her singles and doubles matches.
Wanda Holopainen and Oropeza also won again, as did
Taylor Larreau.
