The Roadrunners fell behind 18-9 in the second set and rallied to lose by just two points at 25-23. They carried that momentum into the third set where they hit .519. Down 12-11, MSU Denver scored four straight to take the lead. Despite the strong offensive attack, it took a late run to break a 20-20 tie.

Metro State scored the final six points of the fourth set to force the deciding fifth. Haun had three of those points on kills.

The fifth set was back-and-forth the whole way with seven ties and four lead changes. The Roadrunners were up 13-11 before the Cougars tied it up. Coming out of a timeout, Quijano connected on a kill for a 14-13 lead and Metro State survived a CCU timeout to finish with a block by Hoagland and Quijano.

Metro State will play at No. 15 Colorado Mines at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
