DENVER — MSU Denver Athletics announced Wednesday morning the hiring of Stacie Meisner as the seventh head coach in program history for the Roadrunners women's volleyball team.
Meisner arrives in Denver following a highly successful tenure at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where she most recently served as head coach from 2023-26 after working her way up through the program as an assistant and associate head coach. During her time leading the Seawolves, she earned 2025 GNAC Coach of the Year honors while guiding her team to a conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance—adding to multiple postseason trips and championships she helped secure throughout her time on staff.
"Stacie is a dynamic leader with a championship mindset and a deep commitment to student-athlete development," said Roadrunners Athletic Director Todd Thurman. "Her experience building successful programs and her ability to connect with student-athletes stood out throughout the search process. We are excited to welcome her to MSU Denver and confident she will continue the strong tradition of Roadrunner volleyball."
Meisner has been part of a sustained run of success at Alaska Anchorage, contributing to GNAC championships in 2022 and 2025 while helping develop multiple All-Americans and all-conference selections. Across her coaching career, she has emphasized recruiting, player development, and building a cohesive team culture—key components that have translated into consistent success on the court.
Meisner takes over an MSU Denver program coming off a historic season, having captured the NCAA Division II National Championship just months ago. With a strong foundation in place and national expectations ahead, she steps into one of the premier programs in the country.
"Stacie's ability to lead across all areas of a program—from recruiting and development to culture and operations—makes her an outstanding fit for MSU Denver," Thurman added. "We believe her vision and experience will keep our program competing at the highest level."
Her experience extends beyond match-day coaching. Meisner has overseen all aspects of program operations, including recruiting coordination, budget management, scheduling, and compliance. She also directed summer camps that generated significant revenue for the program while providing development opportunities for athletes of all levels. Her leadership has included mentoring assistant coaches and establishing clear program goals centered around both athletic and academic success.
Prior to her collegiate coaching rise, Meisner served as Executive Director of the Anchorage Sports Association, where she managed large-scale operations involving thousands of participants and helped grow community-based sports programs. She also founded and directed a youth volleyball club, expanding opportunities for young athletes and emphasizing accessibility and development.
As a player, Meisner brings championship pedigree as well, having been part of a 2007 NJCAA National Championship team and a 2009 GNAC Championship squad at Alaska Anchorage, where she also served as a team captain.
"Our goal was to identify a leader who can sustain and elevate a championship program," Thurman added. "Through a comprehensive national search and review process, Stacie's track record and commitment to student-athlete development made her stand out."
"I'd like to thank AD Todd Thurman and the athletics administration for welcoming me to the MSU Denver family," Meisner said. "I am excited to build on the tradition of success here and lead this program into its next chapter while serving the student-athletes that call this university home."
Meisner will begin her role immediately as she prepares the Roadrunners for the 2026 season, aiming to build on the program's national title and continue its legacy as one of Division II's elite volleyball programs.
