Box Score CHADRON, Neb. - Metro State erased a 14-point second-half deficit to earn a 67-60 win at Chadron State on Saturday and snap a two-game losing streak. The Roadrunners improved to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CSC fell to 1-9 and 1-5.
The Roadrunners outscored the Eagles 36-15 over the final 12 minutes of the game after trailing 45-31 with 12:23 left. Metro State shot 11-of-19 (.579), including 5-of-8 on 3-point field goals, over that period after shooting just 9-of-46 (.196) during the first 28 minutes of the game.
Cassie Lambrecht (Colorado Springs/Golden H.S.) scored a game-high 20 points, hitting 6-of-13 from the floor, including two 3-pointers, and 6-of-7 at the line. Freshman
Jenae Paine (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City H.S.) poured in a season-high 15 points off the bench, draining 3-of-5 from the outside and pulling down five rebounds.
Amy Nelson (Richmond, Utah/Sky View H.S.) had 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Roadrunners missed their first six shots of the game en route to a 17.6 percent first-half shooting performance. They trailed by as many as 16 points, but were down 31-20 at halftime. In addition to the poor shooting, they were outrebounded 29-21. Metro State went without a field goal for over eight minutes from 14:49 to 6:08, missing 15 straight shots.
Down 49-38 with 10 minutes to go in the game, Metro State rallied with eight straight points to bring the deficit to three with 7:07 left.
Paine buried a 3-pointer with 3:08 remaining to tie the game 57-57, the first time the Roadrunners were tied in the game. They took their first lead at 58-57 on a free throw by Nelson with 2:39 left and never trailed again.
Metro State made 7-of-8 at the free throw line in the final 1:22 to seal the victory.
The Roadrunners will be back in action on Jan. 3 at New Mexico Highlands.
