Women's basketball: Regis uses 25-2 run to down Roadrunners in RMAC opener

Box Score DENVER - Regis University used a 25-2 run midway through the second half to overcome a 14-point deficit and beat Metro State 61-54 at home on Saturday. The Roadrunners fell to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while RU improved to 3-2 and 1-0.

The Rangers led by nine points at 55-46 with 4:50 left. The Roadrunners then went on an 8-1 run to get within two points on a layup by Deni Jacobs (Plains, Kan./Southwestern Heights H.S.) with 3:19 to go. But that was the final score of the night for the Roadrunners as Tae'lor Purdy scored the final five points of the game, finishing with game highs of 25 points and 19 rebounds for Regis.

Cassie Lambrecht (Colorado Springs/Golden H.S.) led Metro State with 15 points, including 11 in the first half. Fawn Brady (Grand Junction, Colo./Grand Junction H.S.) added 11 and a team-high seven rebounds.

Metro State led 35-27 at halftime, but was outscored 34-19 in the second half after shooting 25.7 percent after the break.

The Roadrunners will host UC-Colorado Springs on Friday at 5 p.m
