Tennis: Face tough week against Division I opponents

DENVER- Metro State men's team fell to Divsion I Oral Roberts 6-3 on Wednesday before traveling to face Division I Northern Colorado where it lost 6-1 on Friday.  The women's team fell to Division I opponent Northern Colorado 6-0 on Friday.

Men:
The men's tennis team fell to Division I opponent Oral Roberts 6-3 on Wednesday despite strong efforts from the Roadrunners.  In doubles play, the team of Nick Baker (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit West H.S.)/Alec Parmenter (Phoenix/Sunnyslope H.S.) defeated their No. 2 doubles opponent 9-7 in front of the entire roster of both teams as Oral Roberts had taken both No. 1 and No 3 doubles earlier.  In singles play, Jonathan Evangelista (Brighton, Colo./Brighton Collegiate H.S.) defeated his No. 4 opponent 7-5, 6-3 and Ryan Joyce (Cheyenne, Wyo./Central H.S.) defeated his No. 6 opponent 7-5, 6-4 to help give the Roadrunners three points.

On Friday, the men's tennis team fell to Division I Northern Colorado 6-1.  Baker defeated his No. 3 singles opponent 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 to give the Roadrunners their only pont of the day.

Women:
The Metro State women's tennis team fell in its only only match of the weekend when it lost to Division I opponent Northern Colorado 6-0.

The men's tennis team will be back in action on Saturday when the Roadrunners travel to Billings, Montana to take on a neutral game against Colorado Mesa and then face Montana State-Billings later in the afternoon.  The women's team will also travel to Billings, Montana to take on Colorado Mesa and Montana State-Billings on Saturday.
