Tennis: Men and women both fall to nationally ranked Cameron (Okla.)

DENVER- Metro State women's tennis fell to No. 12 Cameron (Okla.) 8-1 while the men fell to No. 20 Cameron.  The loss dropped the women to 7-10 and the men's loss dropped them to 5-7 on the season.

Women:
The Metro State women's tennis team fell to No. 12 Cameron 8-1 on Friday afternoon.  The lone victory for the Roadrunners came from the doubles team of Nicole Herrmann (Porto Alegre, Brazil/Anchieta School) and Nikki Amos (Colorado Springs, Colo./Rampart H.S.) in No. 3 Doubles. 

Amos also had a strong showing in her singles play as she took a set from her opponent before ultimately falling in the third set.  Cara Cromwell (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) also had a strong showing in No. 1 Singles as she lost to her nationally ranked opponent 6-4, 6-4.

Metro State women's tennis will be back in action on Thursday when it hosts Dallas Baptist at 9 a.m. before traveling to Colorado State-Pueblo on Friday.

Men:
The Metro State men's tennis team fell to No. 20 Cameron 8-1 on Friday afternoon.  The lone victory for the Roadrunners came as No. 3 Doubles partners Jonathan Evangelista (Brighton, Colo./Brighton Collegiate H.S.) and Ryan Joyce (Cheyenne, Wyo./Central H.S.) came back from behind to win 8-6.  Evangelista and Joyce faced a 6-3 deficit before rallying to win five straight sets to take the match 8-6.

Metro State men's tennis team will be back in action on Thursday when it hosts Dallas Baptist at 9 a.m. and then Bethany (Kan.) later in the afternoon.  Then on Friday, the Roadrunners will head to CSU-Pueblo at 3 p.m.
