Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Karisa Price (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland H.S.) scored twice for Metro State, including the game-winner in double overtime, as the visiting Roadrunners won 2-1 at Colorado Mesa on Sunday. MSU Denver improved to 4-0-2 overall and 2-0-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CMU fell to 1-5-0 and 0-2-0.
It was the first win for the Roadrunners in Grand Junction since 2010.
Price netted the first score of the game at 7:21, drilling a shot into the upper-left corner of the net for her first goal of the season.
Zsuria Phare (Denver/Cherry Creek H.S.) also earned her first career point on the play with the assist.
The Roadrunners squandered their halftime lead, however, as Tayler Franklin scored for the Mavericks at 50:48. Franklin's score was only the second goal MSU Denver has allowed this season.
Metro State continued to pressure CMU and outshot the Mavericks 18-10 in the game.
The score remained 1-1 until 102:07 when Price scored the game-winning goal. Her shot ricocheted off both goal posts before rolling into the net.
Becca Medina (Denver, Colo./Heritage H.S.) assisted on the play.
It was the fifth-latest game-winning goal in school history. The latest was at 106:50 when Jen Thomas beat Winona State in 2009.
Nicole Jablonski (White Lake, Mich./Walled Lake Northern H.S.) stopped five shots for the Roadrunners in goal.
Metro State will host Adams State at 1 p.m. on Friday.
