Box Score DENVER - Metro State's upset bid of No. 4 Colorado Mesa came up just short, falling 66-63 in overtime at home on Friday night. The Roadrunners fell to 6-10 overall and 5-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CMU remained undefeated at 16-0 overall and 12-0 in the RMAC.
Tai Jensen (Troy, Idaho/Troy H.S.) scored a team-high 13 points off the bench with eight rebounds, making 5-of-6 at the free throw line.
Deni Jacobs (Plains, Kan./Southwestern Heights H.S.) shot 5-of-10 and had 12 points and six rebounds.
Kya DeGarmo (Albuquerque, N.M./Eldorado H.S.) dished out seven assists and scored five points.
Kaysha Fox (Tacoma, Wash./Woodrow Wilson H.S.) provided eight points off the bench, hitting a pair of 3-pointers.
Metro State shot just 33.8 percent in the game, but hung around after forcing 21 turnovers and limiting CMU to 41.7 percent shooting.
The Roadrunners led by as many as eight points in the first half and led 35-31 at halftime after the Mavericks hit two 3-pointers in the final minute.
A 10-0 run early in the second half game gave CMU a 43-39 lead with 14:01 left regulation.
Jenae Paine (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City H.S.) buried a 3-pointer with 13:06 left to end the run and Nelson hit two free throws on the next possession to put the Roadrunners back in front 44-43.
Cassie Lambrecht (Colorado Springs/Golden H.S.) drilled a 3-pointer with 3:20 left to put Metro State ahead 55-53. The Mavericks answered with a jumper after each team turned the ball over, evening the score at 55-55 with 2:45 to go.
Tied 57-57, Hannah Pollart made 1-of-2 at the line with 1:13 left, but the Mavericks corralled the rebound off the miss. The Roadrunners forced a shot clock violation and Jensen drew a foul with 27.1 seconds to go. She made the second attempt, tying the game 58-58.
Lambrecht forced her fourth steal of the night with three seconds, but was unable to get a shot off before the buzzer, sending the game to overtime.
CMU came out with five points early in overtime, leading 63-58. Jensen ended the scoring drought with a turnaround jumper with 3:10 remaining in the period.

Kaysha Fox (Tacoma, Wash./Woodrow Wilson H.S.) banked in a 3-pointer from the left wing to bring the Roadrunners within two points with just under a minute left.
After MSU drew an offensive foul, DeGarmo missed a layup with 12 seconds left and the Mavericks went to the line with 10.4 seconds remaining. CMU missed the free throws, but the Roadrunners came up short on two layup attempts. The Mavericks grabbed the second miss and made the first of two free throw attempts, but the Roadrunners were unable to get off a shot before the buzzer.
Aubry Boehme led CMU with 17 points, scoring 15 points in the second half and overtime. Sharaya Selsor added 15 and Taylor Rock had 13.
Metro State will host Western State at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
