Men's soccer: Berg and Arrubla score in exhibition opener

Box Score DENVER - Metro State earned a 2-0 win over Hastings College on Sunday in an exhibition game at Auraria Field. It was the final game ever to be played at Auraria Field as the Roadrunners will move to The Regency Athletic Complex on Friday for their exhibition game against Laramie County Community College at 4 p.m.

Sunday's game was delayed twice by lightning. Kickoff moved to 3:30 p.m. after an hour-long delay before the starts and the two teams endured a 40-minute delay midway through the first half as another brief line of storms moved through.

Prior to the second delay, the Roadrunners and Dustin Berg (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.) caught a break as his hard, low-driven shot from 25 yards out slipped through the Broncos' goalkeeper's hand and legs, giving MSU Denver a 1-0 lead at 14:36.

Metro State outplayed Hastings, but did not score again until 86:44 when Danny Arrubla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton H.S.) settled a pass from Justin Glivar (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek H.S.) inside the box and blasted a shot from 10 yards away.

For the game, the Roadrunners held a 24-11 shot advantage. Berg led the team with six shot attempts.

Goalkeepers Keegan Hand (Loveland, Colo./Thompson Valley H.S.) and James Tanner (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens H.S.) combined for five saves.
