Denver - The Metropolitain State University of Denver men's and women's tennis teams ran into stiff competition on Friday dropping a total of three matches. The men's team falls to 5-7 overall while the women's team drops to 4-10 overall.
The men's team played two matches on the day, losing to Hawaii Pacific and St. Leo both by scores of 9-0. In the Hawaii Pacific match, sophomore
Brandon Nachbar (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon Campus) came up short at the No. 1 singles position falling 6-4, 6-1. Junior
Parker Jones (Ogden, Utah/Bonneville H.S.) also put up a fight at the No. 2 singles position, eventually falling 6-3, 6-2. In the men's match against St. Leo, sophomore
Calum Hayes (Leeds, England/Guiseley H.S.) made a run at No. 3 singles before falling 6-3, 6-0.
On the women's side, the Roadrunners fell to Hawaii Pacific 9-0. Sophomore
Emily Kerr (Winchester, England/Peter Symonds College) battled at No. 2 singles. Kerr was defeated in spite of a courageous performance ending in a 6-2, 6-4 loss.
MSU Denver's men's and women's teams will face Cameron on Monday, March 21.
