Greeley, Colo. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's tennis team was defeated by Northern Colorado 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Roadrunners fall to 4-4 on the season with the loss.
Sophomore Calum Hayes (Leeds, England/Guiseley H.S.) led the way for the Roadrunners notching the team's only win on the day. Hayes won the No. 5 singles match 6-2, 6-1. Hayes paired with freshman Keenan Kaltenbacher (Colorado Springs, Colo./The Classical Academy) in the No. 2 doubles matchup. The duo was tied 4-4 before the match was halted following Northern Colorado securing the doubles point at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
"I am extremely proud of the way that Calum played," said head coach Daniel Hangstefer. "Overall, the men played with great energy. I think the team is about to turn a corner."
