Pueblo, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's and women's tennis teams each competed in the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament on Friday, April 22. The men's team lost to Colorado Mesa 5-3 and women's team would fall short 5-4 against Western New Mexico.
 
On the men's side, the Roadrunners took two out of three doubles matches against the Mavericks but only picked up one match in singles play. Freshman Joey Tscherne continued his excellent play notching wins in both No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-4) and in No. 1 doubles with sophomore teammate Brandon Nachbar (8-5). The Roadrunners other win came at the No. 3 doubles match, with senior Porter Emery and Keenan Kaltenbacher earning the 8-3 win.
 
The women's team battled back and forth with the Mustangs, with sophomore Courtney Wright winning at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-3) and also winning her doubles match with Emily Kerr (8-5). Kasey Love was the other Roadrunner to win their singles match while also winning her doubles competition with Linying Xiao.
 
The Roadrunners men's and women's teams will both compete for third place on Saturday, April 23 in Pueblo, Colo.
