Denver - The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team will kick off the 2016 season Thursday, September 1 at 7 p.m. against West Texas A&M at The Regency Athletic Complex.
The Roadrunners are coming off a 2015 season where they finished fourth in the RMAC and had an overall record of 8-7-5. Last season,
Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) was named RMAC freshman of the year; leading the team with six goals and finishing tied for sixth in the conference.
MSU Denver was selected to finish fourth in the RMAC in the preseason coaches' poll. Junior
Elise Boisnard (Denver, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) and Banks were selected to the preseason all-RMAC team. The team returns six starters and adds nine newcomers to the roster.
The first 50 fans wearing "red" on opening night will receive free admission. Also, fans will get the chance to win prizes from Tivoli Station, the Auraria campus bookstore, as part of the season opener.
The Roadrunners will host Dallas Baptist on Sunday, September 3 at 12 p.m. There will be a Hawaiian BBQ with $1 hot dogs being served in celebration of Labor Day weekend.
