Box Score Golden, Colo. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team fell to Colorado Mines on Friday night in five sets dropping the Roadrunners record to 13-7 overall and 10-2 in the RMAC.

Taylor Duryea (Logan, Utah/Sky View High School) came out swinging and posted a season-high 22 kills in the match. Senior
Alyssa Svalberg (Aurora, Colo./Grandview H.S.) posted 53 assists and senior
Jackie Lopez (Encino, Calif./Notre Dame H.S.) racked up 15 digs in the match.

The Roadrunners took set one 25-18. MSU Denver led the set from start to finish. The Roadrunners held a one-point lead over the Orediggers at 5-4 before MSU Denver rattled off five consecutive points to take a 10-4 highlighted by two service aces by freshman Lyric Herbert.

MSU Denver dropped the second set 25-23. The second set was close throughout. With the set tied at 23-23, Colorado Mines was able to get the final two points to tie the match at 1-1.

The third set went the way of the Roadrunners, 25-22. MSU Denver jumped out to a 6-1 lead. Colorado Mines battled back to take a 21-20 lead late in the set. The Roadrunners would score five of the next six points to take a 2-1 advantage in the match.

MSU Denver never led in the fourth set of the match. The Roadrunners were able to tie the set at 18-18 after senior
Vasati Fiatoa (Las Vegas, Nev./Bonanza H.S.) and junior
Santaisha Sturges (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) combined for a block. Despite the late push, MSU Denver would come up just short in the set, 25-23.

The fifth and deciding set resulted in a 15-11 by the Orediggers. Colorado Mines got out to a 4-1 lead and the Roadrunners would not be able to close the margin under two points in the set.
