Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver fell 6-2 to Regis University on Friday, April 7 at the Regency Athletic Complex. The Roadrunners fell to 14-17 overall and 10-11 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Rangers improved to 22-10 overall and 15-6 in conference play.
The Rangers came out on fire to start the first inning, hitting three doubles in a row to go up three runs early in the game. The Roadrunners were held scoreless through the first inning, but made it on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. Junior
Sean Kennedy (Aurora, Colo./Grandview High School) reached base hitting a double and senior
Marcus Bean (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) scored Kennedy, hitting a double down the left line. The game went into the third inning with a score of 3-1 in favor of the Rangers
The third inning remained scoreless for both sides but the Rangers had the edge through the remainder of play putting a run up in the fourth and hitting one out of the park in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 5-1.
Regis would go on to score one more run in the game in the top of the eighth with two hits.
The Roadrunners would make an attempt a come back in the bottom of the ninth with Bean earning another RBI on the day. However, that wouldn't be enough as the Rangers were able to hold MSU Denver two two runs, ending the game at 6-2.
The Roadrunners will play UCCS at 12 noon tomorrow at the Regency Athletic Complex.
