Hangstefer Departs For Ferris State

Hangstefer exits following RMAC Championship run

Denver – Metropolitan State University of Denver Director of Athletics Dr. Anthony Grant has announced that Daniel Hangstefer will exit as the head men's and women's tennis coach in order to take the same position at Ferris State University.

Hangstefer coached the Roadrunners for four years and this past season was one of his most successful at MSU Denver.  He coached the men's team to 10-7 overall in the spring while going 5-1 against RMAC opponents.  This is the first regular season title for the men since 2009.  The team also earned a regional ranking as high as No. 5.

Hangstefer led the women's team to 11-5 overall in the spring with a perfect 6-0 record in the RMAC.  This is the first regular season title for the women since 2004.  The Roadrunners were also ranked as high as fifth in the NCAA regional rankings.

Both teams clinched the RMAC tournament championship title over Colorado Mesa University.

A search for Hangstefer's replacement will begin immediately.
