@MSUDenverTennis: 3 Players to Join MSU Denver Program in Fall

Two internationals and one local recruit set to become Roadrunners

DENVER – Metropolitan State University of Denver coach Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School) has spanned the globe for recruits and has announced the addition of three tennis players who have signed national letters of intent to join the Roadrunners' program next fall.
 
Two players are internationals (one from Spain, the other from Australia), while the other is a local product from Englewood, Colo.

Coach Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School):  "Josh already embodies so many great qualities that make up a successful student-athlete. He is also the perfect example of fighting through adversity. A Colorado native with strong ties to the Denver tennis community, I know myself and many others are excited to see what he can achieve here." 
  • Reached No. 206 in nation in 2015 and No. 255 in 2018.
  • Reached career high UTR 11.19 on June 25,2018.
  • Played USTA Zone Team Championships in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016.
  • Received the John Hough Colorado Sportsmanship Award in 2014 from the Colorado Tennis Hall of Fame for outstanding accomplishment, leadership, and sportsmanship.
  • Played USTA Intersectional Team Championships in 2014.
  • Reached #4 in Intermountain section in Boys' 14 Singles.
  • Reached #1 in Intermountain section in Boys' 12 Division, as well as Top 100 nationally.
  • High Honor or Honor Roll in every semester of High School.

Coach Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School): "Jordi is a relentless competitor which I believe is going to take him a long way in a college tennis environment. He competed at a high level throughout Spain and I'm excited to see what he can achieve as a Roadrunner!"
  • Spanish ranking is No. 241.
  • Played F21 Futures Spain 2018 (2nd qualifying round), F31 Futures Spain 2018 (1st qualifying round) and F33 Futures Spain 2018 (2nd qualifying round).
  • Played 30 tournaments this season with seven victories and five runnerups, all but two in senior category
 
Kayla Myburgh | Bunbury, Western Australia | Bunbury Catholic College
Coach Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School): "Kayla is another recruit from Australia that I believe can thrive in a college tennis environment. Coming from a small country town she hasn't had the same opportunities as others, however this hasn't stopped her from reaching a high level. I believe she will impact the singles and doubles lineups right away. "
  • Best Australian Tennis ranking: 192
  • 2016, 2017 – Represented club team that won the WA winter pennants Division 1 competition
  • 2017 – Represented club team that reached semifinals in the WA summer pennants Division 1 competition
  • 2016 – Represented club 16-U junior state league team thjat won the Western Australian summer pennants competition.
  • 2016 – Selected to participate in Tennis Australia's FIT2 Camp for Western Australia during Aug 2016.
  • 2014, 2015 – Selected as part of the regional talent development program to represent WA in interstate tournament.
  • 2013, 2014 – Member of the South West Academy of Sport (SWAS) – Tennis squad.
  • 2013 – Selected for the South West Zone team to playoff against other regional teams in Western Australia (WA) for selection into Foundation Cup (12-U girls)
  • 2013 – Selected to represent WA country team (Tennis West) to play against other States in the Foundation Cup (12-U girls).
