Women's Basketball: Haave and Ohrdorf Lead All-RMAC Awards

Haave named coach of the year

Colorado Springs-  Metropolitan State University of Denver head women's basketball coach Tanya Haave was named 2017-18 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference coach of the year after the Roadrunners finished second in conference.  Senior Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) was named first team all-RMAC and senior J'Nae Squires-Horton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek H.S.) and junior Jaelynn Smith (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) earned second team honors. 
 
Haave led the Roadrunners to second place in the RMAC this season holding an overall record of 21-7 and conference record of 17-5.  The second place finish is the best since 2013.  Haave holds an overall record of 156-78 putting her three wins behind the most wins by a coach in Roadrunners history.  
 
Ohrdorf has had a great senior season for the Roadrunners leading the team and ranking third in the conference with 432 total points, averaging 15.4 points per game.  Her .576 field goal percentage puts her first in the conference and 19th in Division II. Ohrdorf has received all-RMAC honors all four years playing for the Roadrunners.
 
Squires-Horton currently ranks first in the conference with 995 total minutes played and 21st in Division II. She has scored 333 points this season and leads the team with 52 three pointers made. This season she hit her 1,000th career point against Colorado Mesa.
 
Smith has scored 308 points this season for the Roadrunners.  Her 140 total assists puts her 20th in the country and first in the conference. She also ranks second in the RMAC in total free throws made and fourth with 46 steals.
 
The Roadrunners host Colorado Mesa tonight, at 6 p.m. in the RMAC tournament quarterfinals.
