Denver – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced their all-conference selections for tennis with Metropolitan State University of Denver having eight players making the teams. Both men's and women's tennis has four players each being selected for the all-RMAC teams. Senior
Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School) earned player of the year for the second year in a row. Freshman
Alex Pessoa () earned freshman of the year and player of the year on the women's side; and head coach
Barrett Elkins was named coach of the year for his first year at MSU Denver.
First year head coach, Elkins earned coach of the year on both the men's and women's side. Elkins led his team to undefeated RMAC season as both teams were the regular season champions. Both the men and the women are ranked regionally, with the men sitting in the fourth spot and the women earning a five seed. Elkins also has three players currently ranked nationally in division II.
\Pessoa currently plays the No. 1 or 2 in singles and doubles for the Roadrunners, holding a record of 12-11 at singles. As a doubles team, Porter and Pessoa earned first team all-RMAC honors to go along with their individual honors.
Sophomore
Tabitha Porter (Auckland, New Zealand/Northcote College) earned first team all-RMAC in doubles and singles. Porter currently the 39
th ranked player in singles in division II by ITA rankings as of April 11
th, 2018, holding a singles record of 22-10. This is the second year in a row Porter has been named to the first team.
Senior
Courtney Wright (Houston, Texas/Memorial H.S.) earned first team all-RMAC in singles with a singles record of 19-7, winning 9 of 10 final matches in conference at the No. 1 singles spot. Wright earned a 1
st team all-RMAC doubles selection along with fellow senior partner
Emily Kerr (Winchester, England/Peter Symonds College), as their team finished with a record of 15-7, playing as MSU Denver's number one doubles team.
Kerr has also earned a first team all-RMAC singles selection as well, finishing the regular season with a record of 10-11 at the team's No. 4 singles spot.
For the men's team, Graetz finished the year with a record of 18-3, playing in the 1 spot and was named to the 1
st all-RMAC singles team. He is currently the 5
th ranked ITA division II player as of April 11
th, 2018 and is the highest ranked RMAC singles player in the conference. Graetz is on the all-RMAC 1
st team in doubles as well with his partner
Joey Tscherne (Sylmar, Calif./John F. Kennedy H.S.), going 13-7 this year as a duo as the number 1 doubles team.
Tscherne, a junior, has also made the first team all-RMAC for singles this year, going 16-6 out of the 2 spot for MSU Denver. Tscherne and Graetz's doubles team is currently ranked 26
th nationally in ITA division II standings.
Sophomore
Alejandro Martinez-Morilla (Madrid, Spain/I.E. Valdecas) has also made the all-RMAC conference first team for singles, playing primarily out of the three spot for singles competition, going 13-10 on the year.
Freshman
Daniel Llorente (Malaga, Spain) made the all-RMAC second team for singles by finishing the year on a 15-1 run, and total record of 20-6 play primarily from the four spot. As a team, Llorente and Martinez-Morilla made first eam all-RMAC honors with a record of 13-12.
The Roadrunners will host the 2018 RMAC tournament Championship this weekend.
