DENVER – MSU Denver finished the job.
 
After dominating play at the MSU Denver Invitational on Saturday, the Roadrunners finished on top in all six divisions Sunday at the four-team tennis tournament at the Regency Athletic Complex.
 
"It was another great day and I'm really proud of the way the men and women competed," Metropolitan State University of Denver coach Josh Graetz said. "We won every bracket today, so there isn't much more I can ask."
 
In the Women's A Singles bracket, MSU Denver's Tabitha Porter outlasted freshman teammate Brooklyn Ross in a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (6) marathon. Ross had advanced with a win over another MSU Denver player, Gala Castello, in the semifinals.


"Tabi and Brooklyn had an absolute battle today," Graetz said. "It was really cool to see them compete."
 
In the Men's A Singles bracket, all four semifinalists were Roadrunners.
 
Daniel Llorente defeated David Kijak 6-3, 1-6, 11-9 in the final after defeating Alejandro Martinez-Morilla 2-6, 7-5, 10-3 in the semifinals. Kijak reached the final after beating teammate Mateo Besada 6-0, 7-5.
 
The Men's B Singles final was another all-Roadrunners affair, as Billy McDermott beat Jordi Ribera 6-1, 6-2 in matchup of freshmen.
 
All four semifinalists in the women's B draw were from MSU Denver, and freshman Kayla Myburgh emerged as the winner by beating Ainsley Winterrowd 1-6, 6-2, 10-5 in the final.
 
In men's doubles, Martinez-Morilla and McDermott teamed up to defeat teammates Joshua King and Besada 6-4. And, though the women's doubles final wasn't played, it would have pitted a pair of MSU Denver tandems (Castello and Helena Steenberg against Ross and Mackenzie Hotan).
 
 "We got better this weekend and it has put us into a solid position moving into dual play next week," Graetz said.
 
Both MSU Denver teams play at the CSU-Pueblo Duals next weekend, but first the Roadrunners women play host to the University of Nebraska at Kearney at 2 p.m. Thursday.
