DENVER – It was 11 years ago today, April 25, 2009, that Sascha Ruckelshausen (No. 1 singles, No. 1 doubles), Angelo Faustino (No. 2 singles, No. 2 doubles) and Georgie Perez (No. 4 singles, No. 2 doubles) all won twice as MSU Denver defeated Western New Mexico 5-2 to win the RMAC Tournament in men's tennis.
Those performances highlight our latest installment of "On This Date in Roadrunners History," which looks back at the biggest accomplishments in MSU Denver athletics on that particular calendar day.

2015 – Darryl Baca's walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted MSU Denver to a 5-4 victory over Colorado Mesa, ranked Nos. 2/1 in the country in Division II, in the first game of a doubleheader. The program hadn't had a win over a team ranked that high since a 2009 win over Colorado Mesa.
2015 – No. 19 MSU Denver clinched the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's regular-season championship in softball with wins of 9-6 over Colorado Mesa and 9-7 over host Chadron State. Mary Towner's solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning broke a 6-6 tie in the Mesa game, setting the state for a three-run frame.
2015 – MSU Denver's men's 4x100-meter relay team broke the school record at the Colorado School of Mines Pre-Conference meet with a first-place time of 41.86 seconds. The unit included Jon Clarke, Robert Carlson, Alejandro Montoya and Julian Dulaney. Clarke also won the 200 meters (21.71 seconds) and finished second in the 100 (10.99).
2010 – Zach Kruger went 5-for-6 with three RBIs in the opener and was 8-for-11 with a homer and five RBIs for the day as MSU Denver swept a baseball doubleheader from Colorado Christian, 9-2 and 13-6, after the game was moved from Lakewood, Colo., to Pueblo, Colo., due to an unplayable field.
2010 – No. 5 MSU Denver swept a softball tripleheader from Nebraska-Kearney 3-1, 6-1 and 14-3. Christie Robinson improved to 16-1 with the opening-game win, Sara Rusch and Tara Mickelson both homered in game two, then Mickelson went deep again in the five-inning nightcap. Kellie Nishikida tied the program record with two triples in the third game. The Roadrunners improved to 36-3 overall and 33-2 in the RMAC.
2009 – Anthony Luna won the 800 meters at the Jack Christiansen Invitational in 1 minute, 50.04 seconds to top a field of 35. Converted for altitude, his mark of 1:49.39 was an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, where he would eventually win the national championship in the event. Also at that meet, Nathan Newland ran a time of 3:58.59 in the 1,500 meters, placing second in a field of 37. Converted for altitude, his time of 3:53.34 was a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships. Brandon Johnson won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:50.64, and freshman Judith Chavez broke her own school record in the 800 meters, finishing third in a field of 20 in 2:17.54.
2009 – No. 11 MSU Denver clinched at least a tie for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular-season championship with a sweep of Chadron State, 5-1 and 17-0. Christie Robinson improved to 21-3 with a complete game in the opener, then Tara Mickelson and Sara Rusch each went 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs in the five-inning second game.
2008 – Sascha Ruckelshausen and Riley Meyer completed wins at Nos. 1 and 4 singles, respectively, after combining to win at No. 1 doubles, as MSU Denver cruised past Colorado Christian 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the RMAC Tournament for men's tennis.
2004 – Sisters Rebecca and Jessica Meares won easily at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, after posting an 8-4 win in doubles as MSU Denver sailed to a 5-1 victory over CSU-Pueblo to win the RMAC Tournament in women's tennis.
1998 – Matt Jerebker hit a third-inning grand slam as MSU Denver overcome a 7-1 deficit to defeat New Mexico Highlands 13-9 in the first game of a baseball doubleheader.
1993 – Vince Lucero pitched a still-standing school record 10 innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits while striking out nine, but MSU Denver lost to Denver 6-2 in 11 innings.
1992 – Russ Windham won titles at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles (with partner Steve Brown), while the No. 2 doubles team of Lee Major and Mike Bania also won its bracket as the MSU Denver men's tennis team finished second at the Colorado Athletic Conference Tournament.
1991 – Joe Mastroni pitched a seven-inning, two-hit shutout, striking out seven, as MSU Denver defeated host Colorado College 2-0 in the second game of a baseball doubleheader.
1989 – Rusty Befus homered in each game and was 4-for-6 with four RBIs overall as MSU Denver swept a baseball doubleheader from Denver, 12-0 and 12-10. Ken Sutton had a homer and five RBIs in the opening game, while Anthony Cortez pitched five scoreless, three-hit innings.
1989 – Diana Pacheco pitched a five-inning, one-hit shutout, striking out five, as MSU Denver defeated host Colorado School of Mines 10-0 in the second game of a softball doubleheader.
