Carpenter's steady round included three birdies and four bogeys.
"We are so proud of Winnie, Mack and Anto, both Winnie and Mack had personal bests for collegiate golf and played really solid today," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said.
UCSS leads the tournament at 11-over 299, while MSU Denver is tied for second with tournament host CSU-Pueblo.
The 302 team score – both
Isabel Botero and
Sydney Eye shot 82 – is MSU Denver's best since the 2015 team carded a 12-over 300 on the opening day of the 2016 RMAC Championships, which stands as the program's second-best round ever. The record of 298 was set on the second day of the 2015 RMAC Championships, and came the day after the Roadrunners shot 301 en route to the conference crown.
"As a team we posted a good number that could have been even better," Ferguson said. "I'm excited to see what these girls can do tomorrow and in the spring. Hopefully the weather will hold out tomorrow, but we're looking forward to finishing the fall season off strong."
