PUEBLO, Colo. – Winnie Shaw tied for second individually to lead MSU Denver to a second-place tie in the team race as the Roadrunners wrapped up the fall portion of their season Tuesday with a strong showing at the Sam Proal Invitational.
Shaw had three birdies while finishing the day at 2-over-par 74 after shooting a career-best 72 in Monday's first round. At 146, she was one stroke behind the winner and finished ahead of all competitors from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
"I'm really proud of Winnie for her finish," MSU Denver coach Stef Ferguson said. "She worked really hard this summer. It's great to see her hard work paying off."
True freshman Antonella Blanco posted a second straight 74 at the 6,190-yard Pueblo Country Club course to finish the tournament tied for fifth at 4-over. On Saturday, Blanco tied for fifth at a tournament in Utah.
"Anto had another really solid tournament," Ferguson said.

Mackenzie Carpenter shot 80 Tuesday and finished tied for 16
th at 10-over, while
Sydney Eye's 77 pushed her up to a 23
rd-place tie at 15-over.
MSU Denver, en route to the third-best two-round tournament score in program history at 609, briefly led the tournament on Tuesday before settling for a second-place tie with UCCS, just three strokes behind tournament host CSU-Pueblo.
The Roadrunners followed up Monday's first-round 302 that ranked as the fourth-best round in program history with a 305. Their 31-over 609 at a two-round event is the program's best since a 605 at the 2016 RMAC Championships.
"As a team to finish second and have the third-best round in school history, I'm really proud of their effort to finish the fall," Ferguson said. "We're really excited for the spring season."
