DENVER – The team that just refuses to lose will try to defy the odds again Saturday night.
Recent results suggest not to pick against them.
It will be no easy task for the MSU Denver women's basketball team when it goes on the road for a 5:30 p.m. game at UCCS, a team it beat 68-65 at home on Jan. 21.
But, despite being woefully low on players it has been able to put in uniform due to injuries and other issues, the Roadrunners will give it a shot.
MSU Denver has won eight of its last 10 games, with one of its losses coming on a basket at the buzzer and the other an eight-point road loss to a quality team.
The Roadrunners are 9-5 overall and 8-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, yet they are just sixth in the RMAC standings. The RMAC is using a point system to determine qualifiers and seedings for the conference tournament, and unofficial tabulations by the MSU Denver sports information department put MSU Denver close to fifth.
UCCS is 4-11, both overall and in the RMAC, and has lost six of its last eight games.
"We are looking forward to playing at UCCS," MSU Denver coach Tanya said. "Their record is extremely deceiving as they are a much better team than their record indicates, particularly on their home floor. We will need to come ready to play with focus in order to compete with them. Abby Feickert is their leading scorer and she's a very good player."
