COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Metropolitan State University of Denver worked off some of the rust that so many college athletes are dealing with early on this season and played competitively in a 7-0 exhibition loss to NCAA Division I Air Force on Wednesday.

The dynamic duo of junior
Daniel Llorente and sophomore
David Kijak pulled off a narrow 7-5 victory in No. 3 doubles and the Roadrunners played Air Force close in nearly every singles match, but were unable to pick up a point.

Playing especially well were the McDermott brothers.
Billy McDermott nearly forced a second-set tiebreaker in a 6-4, 7-5 defeat at No. 4, while
Jack McDermott played within 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.

Llorente, at No. 1, and
Alejandro Martinez-Morilla, at No. 2, also played strong matches before falling by scores of 6-2, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-3, respectively.
