Allie Navarette made the closing arguments in her case for Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year in the final weekend of the regular season with an incredibly efficient weekend that earned for her a fourth RMAC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Navarette led MSU Denver to its 5th straight victory while scoring 40 points in two wins while taking only 16 field goal attempts.
She had double-doubles in each game (giving her four straight) while averaging 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists and shooting 80.0 percent from the field (12 of 16), 66.7 percent from 3 (4 of 6) and 92.3 percent at the free throw line (12 of 13).
She capped the weekend in a huge win over Black Hills State by scoring 25 points while making 7 of 8 field goals, including 4 for 4 from 3, and 7 of 8 free throws. The 4 made 3s were a career high for Navarette, who now has 1,767 career points.
Navarette had 15 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, making 5 of 8 from the field and all 5 of her free throws in a Friday win over Chadron State.
Her streak of consecutive made free throws ended at 37 on Saturday.
Navarette leads the RMAC in scoring (21.7 points per game), is third in rebounds (8.8), fourth in field goal percentage (51.9) and fourth in free throw percentage (84.7).
In league play, she's first in scoring (22.9), third in rebounds (8.8), third in field goal percentage (53.6) and fifth in free throw percentage (84.4).
Navarette, who played three seasons at Hawaii-Hilo of the Pacific West Conference, has been named conference player of the week eight times in her career. She also received the honor this season on Dec. 21, Jan. 18 and Jan. 25.
